Creating a generative brand design for Tramkade

This was an interesting assignment. For the Generative Design course, we had to create a generative identity. This means that you create a design that changes based on the data that is delivered. We had to create the identity for the Tramkade. This is a creative area in

's-Hertogenbosch. Since I come from 's-Hertogenbosch and enjoy being at the Tramkade, I immediately felt the drive to turn this into a cool project.

In addition to being a creative hotspot, the Tramkade is also a fantastic festival site. I thought it would be fun to pick up on the various festivals and visualize the data of the festivals in the design. I made two variations, Smérrig summer weekend festival and ReNature festival. Smérrig is a dance party that is mainly visited by young people. ReNature is more of an experience festival about sustainability where every age has something to look forward to. I used data from both festivals. I looked at how many visitors are present at the festival, what emotions the visitors feel and what the visitor density is. All these factors influence the design. The size and colours of the visual indicate what kind of festival it is.

It was quite a challenge to create a generative identity. You need to work with variable data and you have to make your design in such a way that it can be adjusted based on the data. I struggled for a while how to get this done but in the end, I'm super happy with the result. During the assignment I noticed that I find generative design very interesting, and I hope to continue experimenting with this.
